Ukie’s Games Demo Day in Partnership with Barclays
We are thrilled to continue our support for grassroots UK game development by once again partnering with UKIE, to create another opportunity for UK game developers to showcase their unsigned games to potential audiences and investors.
UKIE serves as the trade association for the UK's games and interactive entertainment industry. As a not-for-profit organisation, they represent businesses ranging from micro studios to multinationals, including developers, publishers, and service companies. Their mission is to make the UK the best place to make, sell, and play games.
As longstanding members of UKIE, we have collaborated on various initiatives over the years to support the growth of the UK games industry. This includes sponsoring the UK Games Industry Hub Crawls, the Mobile Growth Accelerator programme, and previous Demo Days.
Barclays has been a supporter of the creative industries since the eighties, assisting businesses in film, music, and video games to thrive. We have a dedicated Games and Creative Industries Team and a bank-wide strategy to ensure we can effectively support the needs of this industry at all levels. We view this Demo Day as a crucial link in creating connections for developers.
Similar to UKIE, we recognise the UK's innovative and dynamic video games industry as one of the world's largest, with an enviable reputation for creative talent and developing titles with international appeal. Game developers in leading UK studios have crafted some of the most popular and successful games globally.
We understand that one of the significant challenges for indie game developers is securing funding, and larger games businesses and investors often struggle to find the right game and developers to collaborate with.
The Demo Day will take place in April, where 6-8 successful developers will showcase their unsigned games on a virtual platform.
To further demonstrate our commitment to supporting the UK game businesses, we are thrilled to share that the 8 studios selected to present their games at the Ukie Games Demo Day, will also have the opportunity to exhibit at WASD in London in late April!
When reviewing applications, we will be seeking games that demonstrate innovation and originality. It is important to note that all submissions must be appropriate for a general audience, as games containing inappropriate content such as nudity, unnecessary violence, or offensive language will not be considered.
