In October 2023 we partnered with Game Republic & XR Stories to organize an event that focused on XR & Virtual Production. By bringing together professionals from these industries, this event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the region's creative talent and explored how these industries can work together to drive innovation and growth.

Richard is a creative technologist, specialising in immersive technology since 2008. He is dedicated to crafting interesting, inspirational, and educational experiences using depth sensors, volumetric techniques, and spatial computing, all with the aim of helping and enabling people through technology.
In the realm (and indeed Quantum Realm) of virtual production, Richard has served as a Pipeline Engineer; working on asset workflows and tools for virtual sets for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and R&D for a very ambitious TV series pilot.

Rachael is Draw & Code's Marketing Officer who voices the XR studio's work and helps the team to tell their stories. Her background of marketing theatre experiences mixed with a life-long love of video games helps her to be the ideal person to convey Draw & Code's highly creative take on technology.
An arch-exponent and ambassador of immersive tech, Phil Charnock is the Head of Relationships at Draw & Code. The Liverpool-based studio harnesses games technology and techniques for a wide range of clients including Google, Sony, Red Bull and more. With more than a decade in the game, Phil's work means communicating complex concepts and innovations to varied audiences and partners in the burgeoning XR sector.

Mat Murray From XR Games
After 10 years leading content strategy services in marketing agencies, Mat joined XR Games as Head of Marketing in 2020. Since then he’s led marketing efforts for Zombieland: Headshot Fever on Meta Quest, Rift, Steam, and more recently Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded on PlayStation VR2. His efforts have helped make Zombieland: Headshot Fever a commercial success; taking XR Games from a startup to one of the fastest-growing VR studios in the world today.

Imelda Vyshka from Barclays
Imelda works within Relationship development and management in the Corporate Bank, within the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) Team. Imelda supports games businesses with their growth and aspirations through special products such as the Video Games Tax Credit Loan and connecting them internally with product partners.

Realtime UK
REALTIME are CGI, animation and VFX specialists, with a focus on gaming, automotive and episodic. With two studios based in the Northwest of the UK, and one in central London, we have worked in the industry for over 25 years. Recent projects include TV shows Dance Monsters and The Winter King and cinematics for Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming, F1 2023 and the Sea of Thieves games. We have also collaborated with some of the biggest automotive companies including Lotus Group, Bentley and Volkswagen.

PICO is a leading VR company with independent innovation and R&D capabilities, focusing on all-in-one VR technology.

The Liverpool-based studio harnesses games technology and techniques for a wide range of clients including Google, Sony, Red Bull and more.

- Google AR: A web-based augmented reality experience exploring the Pyramids of Meroe.
The Department for Business and Trade
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the government department for economic growth. They support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country.
The local DBT team operates across the Northern Powerhouse supporting businesses through tailored services such as the Export Academy and International Tarde Advisers.
